QUICC!, a full electric utility van, developed for inner city distribution with a topspeed of 120 km p/h and a range of 150 km
In Europe an annual 1.5 million new transport vehicles enter the market and nearly every one of them is a petrol or diesel car. Over the past 20 years prices of diesel have quadrupled and petrol prices have more than doubled. Prices for fossil fuels aren’t likely to go down in the future. Electric vehicles are an unbeatable alternative: you can drive about 10,000 km at a rate between 100 to 200 Euros in electricity, depending on which EU country you are driving in. Even if prices for electric power would go up, electric vehicles will always be economical, as oil prices will rise at the same rate in that case, or even at a higher rate.
A conventional diesel delivery van has a mileage of 13 kilometres per litre at nearly Euro 1.40 per litre. 10,000 km will set you back between 1,100 and 1,200 Euros on fuel cost. And even more when the price of petrol is considered.
Besides fuel cost you can economise considerably on taxes and maintenance as well. Electric cars are exempt from road tax and BPM (tax on passenger cars and motorised vehicles levied in the Netherlands). As electric cars have no combustion engine, maintenance is much less expensive as well.
